The Witblitz pylon racer is a 610mm wingspan model of Depron construction with a solid core EPS foam wing with MH-33 airfoil. No major modifications to the design will be allowed. The minimum flying weight is 320g.

The Design is based on the Blue Ray pylon racer by Tim Batt of Alabama, USA. The Blue Ray pylon racing concept caught the attention of local modeller and brushless motor aficionado, Christo van der Merwe, who has been involved in Speed400 electric pylon racing from 1997 to 2000. After some minor airframe modifications, including changing the airfoil to MH-33, the Witblitz Pylon Racer was born.

The Power System is limited to:
A brushless outrunner motor with 2208 stator dimensions and 1800Kv max.
    3-cell Lithium Polymer battery
    6.5"x6.5" propeller (APC or Graupner)

Note: A 20A ESC (speed controller) is ideal, since the current draw is typically below 18 amps.

A "race-legal" Witblitz Pylon Racer is required to have equipment of specific specifications, i.e. the motor and propeller

There are now quite a few suppliers of the correct equipment. Below are some items you'll need if you want to compete in Witblitz Pylon Racing

These "cheap" ESC's work fine when used with 2.4GHz "Spread Spectrum" radios. Be careful when using it with 35MHz systems, as glitching might be a problem.
With 35MHz radios rather use more expensive brands, i.e. Hobby Wing, Jeti, Hacker
